Traversing the Dragon Gate is an animation project inspired by the Chinese mythological story of Longmen, or the “Dragon Gate.” In this legend, a carp swims upstream and leaps over a powerful waterfall, where it is than transformed into a dragon as a reward from the gods. I reinterpreted the myth through a unique neon inspired 2D animation that follows similar story beats to the original only through my own personal reinterpretation with a heavy emphasis on perseverance, self-improvement, and achievement through determination.
